In
1973 I started a small computer training course for the San Diego
Community College District. We began
with programmable calculators and graduated to microcomputers when they
were invented. We had a
very successful job training program in data entry as part of this
program. I taught full time with the District
until 1979 and part time until 1983 when I moved East.
Starting
in 1979 I worked for several defense contractors primarily on US Navy
projects. In one week, I used
as many as 13 different computer systems. This experience has
given me a very good general computer
background. I feel comfortable working with PC's,
minicomputers and mainframes.
In
1973, I opened C*C SYSTEMS & SOFTWARE with the
cooperation of Wang Laboratories for whom I did
contract programming. The business was a part time venture
that satisfied the State of California requirement
for vocational teaching certification. After returning from
Desert Storm service, I began full time consulting
under this business name.
My
Naval Reserve career has had many interesting facets. I am a
Hospital Corpsman who has spent 16 years
with Marine Corps units. Being a Hospital Corpsman has taught
me to be resourceful and inventive while
remaining calm in emergency situations. Being with the US
Marines has taught me to overcome the odds
by persistence and ingenuity.
My
personal interests tend towards music and dance. I teach
Scottish Country Dancing and perform with several
groups in New York City. I sing with the Oratorio Society of
New York which gives three concerts at
Carnegie Hall each year. I have served as an officer for my
church and in several non-profit groups. In my
"spare" time I read science fiction.
